Streamwreck — Privacy Notice

Last updated: September 26, 2026 · Controller: Andrew McGraw, an individual ("we", "us")

This notice explains what Streamwreck does with personal data. It is the canonical statement; section 12 of the [EULA](/eula) points here rather than repeating it, so the two cannot drift apart.

1. The short version

Nothing you see, say, type, or point a camera at ever reaches us. Streamwreck runs on your computer and its effects are produced there. We hold only what is needed to make a license work: a key, a fingerprint of the device it runs on, when it last checked in, and — if your payment provider gives it to us — the email you bought with.

We do not sell data, we do not use it for advertising or profiling, and we do not track what you stream or which effects you use.

2. What we never receive

The Software captures your screen, and — if you enable camera effects — your webcam, locally on your own computer, to draw effects on your own display and your own broadcast. We do not receive, transmit, store, or have any access to:

Card details go to the payment provider and its processors, never to us.

We also collect no usage analytics or telemetry of any kind. There is no analytics SDK, no crash reporter, and no usage beacon in the application.

3. What we do hold

| Data | Why | Where it comes from | |---|---|---| | License key | To know which license is which | Issued by us on purchase | | Hardware fingerprint of the activated device | To enforce one live activation per key | Derived on your machine from a machine identifier; it is a one-way value, not your hardware serial | | Activation and heartbeat timestamps | To tell a live seat from an abandoned one | Your app checking in | | Email address associated with your purchase | To send your key, support you, and process refunds | Your payment provider, where it supplies it | | IP address of activation requests | To detect one key being used on two machines at once, and to rate-limit abuse | Your connection |

IP addresses are not stored in our license database. They appear in the server's operational logs and in a short-lived in-memory record, and are not linked to you beyond the license key they arrived with.

4. Why we are allowed to hold it (legal basis)

We do not rely on consent for any of the above, so there is no consent for you to withdraw — but every right in section 7 still applies.

5. Who else sees it

We share personal data with nobody else. We do not sell it, rent it, or disclose it for advertising. We may disclose data where the law requires it.

6. Where it goes

Our license server is located in the United States. If you are outside the United States, using Streamwreck means your license data is transferred to and stored there.

7. Your rights

Wherever you live, and regardless of what the law where you live requires of us, we will honor a request to:

If you are in the UK, EU, or EEA, these are your rights under the UK GDPR / GDPR, and you also have the right to complain to your data protection supervisory authority.

Email 8mcgraw@gmail.com to exercise any of these. We will respond within 30 days. Note that deleting an active license record will deactivate that license — we cannot keep a license working and delete the record that makes it work.

8. How long we keep it

License records are kept while the license is active, and for up to 24 months after it lapses, is refunded, or is revoked, after which they are deleted or anonymized. Operational logs are kept for a shorter period in the ordinary course of running the service.

9. Children

Streamwreck is not intended for and may not be used by children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from them. If you believe a child has provided us data, email us and we will delete it.

10. Changes

If this notice changes materially we will update the date at the top and, where the change affects data we already hold, tell license holders by email.
